How to care of your Oriental Rug
CUSTOMERS NEED ASSISTANCE IN TAKING CARE OF THEIR RUGS.

PERIODIC CLEANING:
Your trusted professional Oriental rug cleaners will insure a skilled cleaning that brings out the richness of color and softness of the wool. Depending on the amount of traffic, a professional washing is recommended every three to six years for the cleaning of your Oriental rug.

ROTATION:
To insure even wear, your rug should be rotated once a year. Depending on the traffic, the rotation may vary from six months to two years.

VACUUMING:
Oriental rugs, like most carpeting, should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers. Be sure not to vacuum the fringe.

PADDING:
A quality pad used under your rug helps protect it from dirt, wear and slippage. We will be happy to provide you with the correct padding.

RESTORATION:
In case of damage, just about any problem has a solution with a professional restoration. Old and antique rugs sometimes need to be rewoven where worn and restored to life. Newer rugs are rarely in need of repair. An experienced professional must always be consulted in these matters.

BLOTTING & STAINING REMOVING:
When spills occur, dilute with plenty of water. Next, blot from the edge of the spill towards the center. Avoid rubbing the area . For solid spills, take a spoon and carefully scoop-up the material. It is always best to attack the spill immediately. The following information and chart will help you eliminate most stains. For further advice, contact us. We will be glad to help.

REMEBER...
Any good Oriental or Persian carpet will last decades with no attention at all, but will last much longer with the following simple precautions:

Do not vacuum more often than necessary, certainly not more than once a week in normal traffic areas. A suction type or canister vacuum cleaner is preferable to one with rotary brushes. Vacuum in the direction of the nap, and do not vacuum the delicate fringes.

New rugs (especially thick ones) will shed for a year or two. This is entirely normal and no cause for alarm.

Any oriental rug intended for use on a hard floor should have a good pad.

Rugs may be lightly hand-shampooed whenever necessary. The most suitable types of rug shampoo are those that dry to a powder after application, such as Woolite Rug Shampoo. Any major cleaning should be entrusted only to an oriental carpet specialist.

Any deterioration of fringes or edge of a rug should be attended to immediately by an expert.

Do not attempt to shampoo any rug made of silk, or containing silk highlights. Also, do not shampoo any really valuable antique rug. Leave both of these to the experts.

Roll (do not fold) rugs for storage, and insert mothballs or flakes. Also, do not store in a damp area such as a cellar--very high humidity over long periods may seriously damage or even destroy any fine carpet.
